China lost a variety of cultural relics and the reason for the loss differed in many ways. It was necessary for China to take back its lost cultural relics according to their various circumstances through safely return, purchase and so on.

The statistics released by the UNESCO showed that the total member of China's antique items lost overseas had exceeded 10 million, among which 1.63 million were housed by museums in different countries worldwide.
