Fourteen years after its original release, the new Titanic 3D film, recently screened in China, has been drawing in huge audiences. With the classic romance blockbuster currently making a comeback on the silver screen, Foreign Languages Press (FLP) has provided Chinese audiences with the Chinese translation of the book "James Cameron's Titanic".

The book "James Cameron's Titanic" was a New York Times bestseller. FLP had to compete with several other Chinese publication houses before winning the right to publish the Chinese version of the book in China.

This book goes into almost every detail of Titanic, from the actual construction of the "ship of dreams" to the casting of Jack and Rose, one of Hollywood's most memorable film couples. Featuring an in-depth foreword by James Cameron that details the personal impact Titanic had on his life and career as a filmmaker, never-before-seen photographs plus a double-sided fold-out poster, this collector's edition is the ultimate behind-the-scenes look at one of the best loved movies of all time.

It is a latest attempt from FLP to combines its professional skills in producing high-quality books with commercially based operation.

The introducing of the book Titanic is "very fundamental to FLP's strategical shift towards becoming a commercially based operation," David W Ferguson explained. He is an author and editor with FLP.

FLP is a professional international publishing house specializing in translating and publishing books in many languages for readers both inside and outside of China. It was established in 1952 and is based in Beijing, China.

FLP transformed itself from an SOE to a private company at the end of 2010. This requires FLP to take full advantage of the vitality of the market and actively explore innovative ways to attract audiences and improve its competitiveness. To this end, FLP has carefully chosen books with high commercial potential to generate revenue so that it can continue to also publish high quality books.

"In the past, FLP was very good at publishing high quality books, both in terms of content and presentation. But these books have a very limited market. The Titanic book is similar to the former ones in style, being a big book with lots of high quality photos. But the difference is that it has an enormous customer base," Ferguson said. "Like the film, I expect this book will also be very successful."

"My hopes for the future are that FLP will be able to use successful commercial projects such as Titanic to generate revenue so that it can continue to publish high quality books in the traditional areas of history, geography and culture," Ferguson said.

At the 2012 London Book Fair (LBF), held at London's Earls Court, the Titanic book will also be highlighted.
