Wen: China-Indonesia Relations Moving Toward Maturity
Adjust font size:

The China-Indonesia strategic partnership is established on the basis of common interests and needs, and shows that the bilateral relationship is moving toward maturity, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said on Monday.

China and Indonesia should formulate an action plan as soon as possible so that the bilateral cooperation of mutual benefit can be further deepened. The Chinese side is willing to work together with Indonesia in this respect, Wen said during a meeting with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who is now in Nanning to attend the commemorative summit marking the 15th anniversary of China-ASEAN Dialogue Relations.

Economic and trade cooperation is the pillar for the development of China-Indonesia relations. China hopes that the two sides will cooperate closely in the implementation of the projects on assisting Indonesia to build railways, bridges, dams and power plants, he said.

China and Indonesia should also work together to expand the two-way trade and mutual investment, and make more efforts to facilitate cooperation in the tourism industry, Wen added.

Susilo said the establishment of the Indonesia-China strategic partnership had boosted the two sides' all-round cooperation in various sectors.

Indonesia hopes to expand cooperation with China in the fields like investment, trade, energy and tourism, and welcomes China to participate in Indonesia's infrastructure construction, he said.

Indonesia is ready to facilitate the cooperation between the enterprises of the two countries, in an effort to make the two-way trade volume hit US$30 billion by 2010, Susilo added.

Susilo arrived in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on Sunday to attend the China-ASEAN summit. Susilo will also attend the third China-ASEAN Expo to be opened here on Tuesday.

Before arriving here, Susilo visited Shanghai where he and Chinese Vice Premier Huang Ju attended the second China-Indonesia energy forum on Saturday.

Indonesia is the largest economy among the 10 ASEAN member states, and China is Indonesia's fourth largest trading partner.
