Tencent Holdings Limited, a leading provider of Internet and mobile and telecommunications value-added services in China, has reported an annual profit of 1.568 billion yuan (221.9 million US dollars), up 47 percent from the previous year.

Tencent's total revenues were 3.821 billion yuan in 2007, an increase of 36.4 percent over the previous year, of which 66 percent came from its Internet value-added services, 21 percent from its mobile and telecommunications value-added service and 13 percent from online advertising, according to its un-audited results for 2007 released on Wednesday.

The company, which was listed in Hong Kong, reported basic earnings per share of 0.88 yuan, according to the statement on its website.

The total registered instant messaging (IM) users accounts, the country's largest, has increased to 741.7 million. The active IM user accounts increase four percent to 300.2 million.

"In 2007, our diversified business portfolio once again delivered solid results as a whole, although different business lines fluctuated at different times," said Ma Huateng, Chairman and CEO of Tencent.

"Our Internet value-added services business, particularly non-game Internet value-added services, and online advertising business grew strongly," he said.

Founded in November 1998, Tencent has grown into China's largest and most used Internet service portal.
