Lenovo Group Ltd hopes to further tap into China's mobile Internet market through enterprise solution applications on its Android-based LePhone.

"We see a lot of opportunities in the enterprise solution sector of the mobile Internet market. Lenovo has an advantage in this sector considering the strong lineup of our current customers," Chen Xudong, vice-president of Lenovo Group, said at an enterprise solution forum in Shanghai.

At the forum, Lenovo launched its mobile enterprise solution plan based on mobile cloud computing, including its mobile cloud storage platform and enterprise Push Mail system.

The Push Mail system, developed by Lenovo over the past five years, is considered the core of LePhone's mobile enterprise solution strategy, enabling its clients to receive and examine internal e-mails at any time in stable and secure conditions.

Lenovo said it also hopes that more software developers will work on developing applications for the LePhone to develop the mobile enterprise solutions sector.

"We have many enterprise clients in the personal computer sector, so it's natural that we are tapping the mobile Internet market through our LePhone," said Wei Wei, vice-director of Lenovo Corporate Research and Development.

Lenovo currently works with foreign companies, such as business management software developer SAP AG, to transplant enterprise management software to the LePhone.

More than 200 software application companies have so far signed contracts to develop software on the LePhone platform.

Wei also revealed that over 1,000 individual developers are currently working on software that can be used on the LePhone.

"We are actually adopting a two-way development strategy concerning the mobile Internet market," said Chen.

Software giants like SAP have mature backstage business solutions and they wish to work with handset manufacturers like Lenovo to jointly develop application software.

Meanwhile, as each enterprise may have its unique operational model and flow, third-party software developers are sometimes required to work out unique and tailored plans meeting different needs.

"So we are working to excel in both areas," Chen said.

Lenovo launched its Android-based smartphone LePhone in May to profit from China's booming mobile Internet market. It aims to sell more than 1 million LePhones within 12 months.
