The Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, also known as Beijing E-Town, is set to build a leading innovation cluster for embodied artificial intelligent robots, said Kong Lei, director of the Beijing E-Town administrative committee, on Thursday during the ongoing World Robot Conference.

Speaking at the main forum of the conference, Kong outlined a two-step plan to establish a top-tier robotics industry hub that is domestically leading and internationally renowned.

According to the plan, by the end of 2026, Beijing E-Town aims to achieve mass production capabilities for 10,000 embodied AI robots. By 2030, the goal is to establish a comprehensive innovation ecosystem with a fully integrated industrial chain and cutting-edge technological advancements. This hub will serve as a strategic base, technology powerhouse, application demo center, and major industrial site for China's embodied AI robotics sector.

Embodied AI robots, like humans, require advanced "brains, cerebellums, and limbs" to function, each presenting a unique technological challenge. To reach its development goals, Beijing E-Town aims to lead in key technologies, pioneer in developing core products, and drive innovation in application scenarios.

According to Kong, Beijing E-Town will support leading enterprises in developing disruptive technologies, with the aim of creating a globally competitive "brain" for embodied AI robots. This involves the development of AI-driven models that integrate perception, decision-making, and control, reaching international standards in task execution and robotic capabilities.

To pioneer core products, the focus will be on accelerating the development and industrialization of essential products, including complete robots, key components, and software systems.

Furthermore, Beijing E-Town aims to be the first to introduce innovative application scenarios, and explore applications in areas like industry, elderly care, emergency response, education, entertainment, etc.
