The European Union on March 17 imposed a five-year anti-dumping duty on coke imported from China. It is the second time the EU has taken anti-dumping action against Chinese coke since 2000.

Duty will be collected on coke with a C.I.F. (Cost, Insurance and Freight) price lower than a price floor set at 197 euros (US$309) per ton and will amount to the difference between the C.I.F. price and the price floor. If the C.I.F. price is higher than the floor, no duty is payable. The measure applies to coke more than 80 millimeters in diameter.
