The China Enterprise Confederation will share strategies with China's top 500 businesses at a summit next month in hopes of closing the gap between these and the world's top 500 enterprises and increasing international competition, said the State Council Information Office (SCIO) at a July 20 news conference.

The summit, which business leaders from China's top companies will attend, will be held on August 30-31 in Yinchuan, the capital city of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

"At the summit, we will release this year's list of China's top 500 enterprises," said Wang Jiming, vice chairman of the China Enterprise Confederation. "An analytical report (containing seven years of research) will be released comparing the top 500 enterprises of China with the top 500 enterprises in the world."

Four topics will be discussed at the summit, including transforming businesses facing new challenges and recent development, strategic transformation and business model creation, social responsibility and dealing with unpredictability in a global financial market.

Wang said that during the past seven years, the confederation has worked to advance the top 500 Chinese businesses into "world-class firms" and that they have "received much attention from the State Council and related departments."
