The 10th Forum on Internet Media of China was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, from October 27 to October 28. The forum focused on the development of Internet media and dissemination of information. Li Jiaming, executive president of China.org.cn, attended the forum and delivered a speech, in which he encouraged new ideas and in-depth research on laws of Internet communication.

"Compared to traditional media, Internet communication is interactive, massive, multi-media, instant, individual and hyper-text. To improve the ability of Internet communication, Internet media staff should know these characteristics and change their ways of perspective and presentation," Li said.

Many of the Web media staff have worked for traditional media. They can judge the value of information and direction of the public opinion very well, said Li, however, maybe they are also constrained by their former experiences. They should give up or change some traditional ideas and methods to promote Internet communication.

China.org.cn offers wide-ranging, up-to-date news about China, including searchable texts of government position papers, and a wealth of basic information about Chinese history, politics, economics and culture. Its audience is drawn from more than 200 countries and regions. China.org.cn staff has been improving the website to do better in mass communication. It has been transformed from a one-to-all news website to a fully interactive platform. It focuses on in-depth reporting and a review articles. China.org.cn aims to become a leading global multi-media communication platform.
