Two of China's major economic centers have been put under the spotlight at this year's session of the National People's Congress.

When it comes to the city of Shanghai, one of the major issues is the cost of housing.

Shanghai Municipal Committee chair Han Zheng says they're looking at ways of trying to deal with the situation.

"The real estate market in Shanghai is seeing a somewhat irrational and overly-greedy trend recently. This is starting to hurt the health of the property market. We're trying to keep a close watch on this phenomenon. Housing is a big part of people's lives, and as such, the government needs to keep tabs on it to ensure markets don't get out of control. That said, anyone who is found intentionally trying to manipulate the market will find themselves in the face of the law."

Meanwhile, economic cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao has also been another hot topic in the annual sessions.

Guangdong governor Zhu Xiaodan says one of the areas they're hoping to capitalize on is young entrepreneurs.

"The Guangdong-Hong Kong Summer Internship Program is going to continue. It allows Hong Kong students to intern in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and other major cities in the Pearl River Delta. It lets the students to familiarize themselves with the situation in Guangdong, especially in the field of entrepreneurship. We want to make the region a place these young people want to set up businesses in."

This year's CPPCC and NPC sessions will run through this week.
