HK Buses to Screen National Education Program
Adjust font size:  ZoomIn ZoomOut

A national education program titled "Q & A about China" will be shown on screens of all buses and part of mini-buses throughout Hong Kong beginning from this week, Hong Kong RoadShow announced Tuesday.

Cooperated with Xinhua News Agency, the program will broadcast all kinds of knowledge covering China's economy, science and technology, society and culture in the form of "questions and answers".

Speaking at the startup ceremony for the program, Director of Xinhua News Agency Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau Xue Yongxing said Xinhua is happy to do its best to promote Hong Kong's national education.

Winnie J. Ng, Executive Director of The Kowloon Motor Bus Co. Ltd., also Chairwoman of RoadShow, said as buses and mini-buses run throughout Hong Kong including Kowloon and The New Territories, they can serve as "mobile classes" for national education.

The print material of the program will be distributed to all Hong Kong's primary and secondary schools as well as public libraries, Ng said.

A competition based on the contents of "Q & A about China" brochures among Hong Kong's primary and secondary schools will be held this May, Ng said.

Since the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the HKSAR Government and all Hong Kong social sectors have paid great attention to national education. In the past years, RoadShow has broadcast programs like "Short Messages about China" and "Athens Olympic 2004 - China's Spirit" on part of Hong Kong's buses, both were co-produced by Xinhua and won great success.
