All across the country, manufacturers are working round the clock to produce urgently needed supplies for the quake zone. Six provinces including Zhejiang, Hubei, Guangdong, Shandong, Jiangsu and Henan are to offer direct supplies to specific cities in the quake-hit areas.

Zhejiang province has allocated some 120 million yuan for disaster relief efforts. A medical team of 173 has also been dispatched to Sichuan.

Hubei has sent 40,000 tents and 140,000 square meters of wooden boards.

In central China's Hubei province, factory workers are busy making makeshift houses with wooden boards. So far, Hubei has sent 40,000 tents and 140,000 square meters of wooden boards. The province has made six deliveries that occupy over 70 train compartments. A further supply of 60,000 temporary houses are to reach quake-hit areas before August the 10th.

Meanwhile, South China's Guangdong province has enough wooden planks and covers to construct 500 temporary houses. Guangdong has so far sent 3,500 tents, 600 sleeping bags, 600 damp-proof cushions, and 300,000 square meters of (stripe) covers for tents.

In east China's Shangdong province, 21 tons of water-proof cloth were sent to Mianyang city in Sichuan by air. The supply of goods included 27 tons of (stripe) covers, 240,000 square meters of waterproof canvas, and 230 makeshift houses.

Meanwhile, a 40-member medical team from east China's Jiangsu province has arrived in Shifang City in Sichuan Province. Their arrival has eased the pressure of a shortage of professionals in the region. Besides medical staff, Jiangsu has also sent 50 thousand tents and 400 thousand square meters of temporary houses.

In central China's Henan province, 30 thousand tents have been sent to Sichuan. So far, Henan has sent enough wood to construct temporary houses for more than 4,000 people.

The Hong Kong SAR has deployed a Government Flying Service, or GFS, Super Puma helicopter to the earthquake-devastated area in Sichuan Province.

After arriving on Friday, the helicopter will be operated by GFS officers already deployed there to help with rescue and quarantine work.
