Dr Jiang Xinquan from Shanghai No. 9 People's Hospital won the Hatton Award at the International Association for Dental Research in the United States. He is the first Chinese expert to win the award, which is given to the top dental scientists. Jiang won the award for his research on a gene, which is thought to be involved in reconstruction of tissues destroyed by cancer, injuries and congenital deformity.
