60% of Men Feel Psychological Burden

A recent psychological survey shows that more than 60 percent of men, especially middle-aged men, have psychological problems.

According to the Shenzhen Economic Daily, the Medical Center of Tianjin Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine recently conducted a psychological survey on 300 adult males.

The survey shows that more than 60 percent of men, especially middle-aged men, have psychological problems.

Experts believe that society, work units and family should pay attention to and show loving concern for physical and psychological health of men.

At the same time, men should view their own psychological problems properly, with emphasis on preventive measures and avoidance of turning small issues into big problems.

Psychology experts believe that the public have too high an expectation on men, whether parents towards their sons' achievement, or wives towards their husbands' or children towards their fathers'. These and the daily accelerating pace of life as well as pressure from competitive work all become sources of psychological ailment for urban males.

Traditional concepts regard men can only gain everyone's recognition if they succeed in worldly affairs. If there are problems at work and temporary setbacks, men feel especially strong psychological pressure.

In addition, by the public's standards, men are the stronger sex and should shoulder everything, but the result is by necessity a negative impact on their physical and psychological health. Some men who are under psychological pressure will usually resort to unhealthy means to alleviate their troubles, such as smoking, drinking, speeding, drowning themselves in electronic games etc. But the result is that the pressure remains but their health deteriorates.

Therefore, it is important to give adequate psychological "nutrition" to men. Psychological experts believe that the most important spiritual "nutrients" are first love, then guidance, third strong beliefs and ideals and fourth and last forgiveness.
