Dadain and his daughter-in-law, both of the Lhoba Nationality in the Tibet Autonomous Region, arrived in Beijing one after another this week to attend the two momentous national political events held in central Beijing.
Dadain was elected by local people as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), while his daughter-in-law, Xiao Hong, was elected a deputy to the 10th National People's Congress (NPC).
The two prepared several proposals concerning the daily life of local people before they set off for Beijing.
The Lhoba Nationality, with a population of 3,000, is the smallest ethnic group in China, mainly living in Nyingchi Prefecture of Tibet. Before the region was liberated in 1951, the people group made a living by hunting in dense forest.
After liberation, the ethnic group settled down in villages. Over 97 percent of school-age children attend school. Some have become millionaires.
"Though the Communist Party of China has done a lot for us, I will make a proposal to the CPPCC National Committee to build a bridge across the Yarlung Zangbo River," Dadain said.
In addition, he will suggest the government to render energetic support for regional development of animal husbandry when Lhoba people convert infertile farmland to grassland in response to the central government's decision to make western China green, he added.
In the wake of discussions with his family members and neighbors, Dadain decided to raise another proposal together with his daughter-in-law for the government to provide jobs for Tibetan college graduates as professionals in underdeveloped Tibet are more rare than in other parts of China.
