Jordanian King Meets Chinese FM to Boost Cooperation

King Abdullah II of Jordan held talks in Amman Sunday with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing to boost bilateral relations and cooperation.

Speaking highly of China's role in the Middle East region, Abdullah affirmed his country's willingness to strengthen ties with China in all areas.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations and agreed to facilitate mutual investments and boost business ties between private sectors in both countries.

The two sides also agreed to initiate a joint commission to promote economic, trade, political and cultural cooperation.

Apart from bilateral relations, the two sides discussed latest peace efforts to push forward the long-stalled Mideast peace process in consistency with the internationally backed roadmap peace plan.

In addition, King Abdullah called for enhanced international cooperation to restore security and stability in Iraq.

Li, for his part, expressed China's desire for stronger ties with Jordan in all fields.

He also praised Jordan's efforts toward modernization and its role in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and restoring peace in Iraq.

Concluding his three-day official visit to Jordan on Sunday, Li left here for Israel as the next stop of his Mideast tour, which will also take him to the Palestinian territories, Syria and Lebanon.
