Worldwide silicon sales have reached US$7.0 billion. Annual sales in China bring US$0.6 billion which is one tenth of world sales and is increasing 15 percent every year.

Silicon is being used widely in a large variety of products in many fields including auto industry, electronic industry, medicine, construction, commodities, biological projects and aviation.

Hoover said in an interview with Xinhua that at present, the sales of Dow Corning top China. There are however three multi-national companies and two Chinese businesses which take a large share of the Chinese market. He said to become more competitive the company has launched a new sales model via the web aiming to efficiently reduce sales costs and hence change the present situation in which the company's products generally have higher prices than similar Chinese products .

Companies to Have Access to Dow Corning Products

According to Xie Dunnan, an advanced official in charge of the new business, by ordering via the web, many middle sized and small companies will for the first time have access to Dow Corning products.

Hoover said, Dow Corning business has been limited to big and medium sized cities since entering into Chinese market in 1991. He hopes to steer the company towards a wider coverage and to attract more Chinese customers with the help of the flexible and cheap medium of the web.

Hoover said, the new business model of Xiameter will take it ahead of its rivals. The corporation now has introduced this model to more than 50 countries and regions throughout the world.
