SCO Members Hold Talks on Military Exercise
Adjust font size:  ZoomIn ZoomOut

Military experts from Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member nations have finished their third-round talks on this year's anti-terrorism military exercise, a spokesman with China's Ministry of National Defense said Saturday.

The talks, held in the Russian city Chelyabinsk from April 12 to 14, mainly focused on agendas such as the purpose, the size of troops and the detailed planning of the military exercise, the spokesman said.

Experts from SCO member nations have reached consensus on issues concerning logistics plan and scheme of the real-troop exercise.

Gen. Yury Baluyevsky, Chief of the Russian General Staff Army, and Zhang Qinsheng, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, attended the meeting.

Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui said last month that a joint anti-terrorism military exercise within the framework of SCO will be held in Russia this year, but he didn't reveal the exact schedule.

The next round of the talks is scheduled to be held in northwest China's Urumqi city in mid-May.
