Sailing and yachting are becoming prosperous in China. Output value of the domestic yacht manufacturing industry has already exceeded 200 million yuan (US$24.6 million).

Sailing is now very popular in western countries. It is also a symbol of economic strength for coastal countries and cities.

There are now four yacht manufacturing enterprises in Shenzhen. Eight coastal cities including Dalian, Qingdao, Rizhao, Suzhou, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Beihai have already established yacht clubs.

In Shenzhen, some wealthy people already have their own sailboats and yachts.

Mr. Xie Boyi, senior consultant with the Chinese Yachting Association, said that the action of sailing fans in Shenzhen spending over 3 million yuan on an intercontinental voyage showed that some entrepreneurs in Shenzhen had already had adequate economic power.

Shenzhen's yacht manufacturing industry is beginning to take shape.
