More Exciting Events Await Tourists Coming to Malaysia

More exciting tourism events will line up for Visit Malaysia Year 2007, local media reported Monday.

Among those events are a six-storey-high space shuttle from Russia, a 100-meter-high Ferris wheel and an international fireworks competition, said Tourism Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

These are some of the events Malaysia will hold to promote the country as a tourist hot spot.

The space shuttle, called Buran, will be flown into the country by a special aircraft and will be exhibited at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang near here.

"We won the right to exhibit the space shuttle after winning a bidding war with China and South Korea. The aerospace exhibition, to take place from June until Aug next year, will also commemorate the send-off of our first astronaut into space, which is scheduled at the same time," Tengku Adnan was quoted as saying by The Star.

The Ferris wheel, to be located in Kuala Lumpur City Center, known as "Eyes of Malaysia", will be open to riders for the whole year.

Other events coming up include the famous Edinburgh military tattoo show and a floral and horticultural show.

Malaysia aims to attract some 20 million visitors in the year 2007, which will mark the 50th anniversary of the national independence.
