The United Nations held its COP15 Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen this December, and improved international cooperation regarding climate change. 193 countries paid full attention to the issue. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao delivered an important speech at the conference and played a key role in keeping the negotiations on the right track. As NGOs, we paid close attention to the Copenhagen Conference as we will do for the summit in Mexico next year. We also fully support Premier Wen and Chinese delegations' efforts. We have to contribute more to cope with climate change; therefore we issued this proposal to call for everyone to take responsibility in protecting the environment and dealing with climate change.

1. To look upon climate change in the long term. Nations worldwide should follow the principle of "common but differentiated responsibilities" and fulfill their obligations.

2. To fight against climate change, China needs to make every effort to achieve the target of reducing carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP by 40 to 45 percent by 2020.

3. Each enterprise should pay attention to protecting the environment as well as developing themselves.

4. Citizens should avoid luxurious consumption and try to save energy starting with the little things.

5. Every single organization, including governments at all levels, businesses, communities and schools should focus on education and campaigns as a means of raising public awareness about saving energy, reducing emissions and fighting climate change.

We should stick to the strategy of sustainable development to achieve the targets of reducing emissions and protecting our planet. We would also like to cooperate with other international and domestic NGOs to push forward the process of fighting climate change and its impact on human history.
