China sweats in warmest spring for 57 years
Adjust font size:

China experienced its warmest spring in fifty-seven years, China News Service reported on Friday.

The report quoted a meteorologist as saying that the average temperature in the three spring months of March through May hit 11.2 degrees Celsius, 0.6 degrees higher than last year's figure 10.6, and 1.8 degrees above the historical average of 9.4 degrees Celsius for this time of year.

It was the highest recorded temperature since 1951 and part of a consistent trend since 1997.

Most areas in the nation have experienced temperature of more than 1 degree Celsius higher than the historical average. Some Provinces, including parts of the three northeastern Chinese provinces, Inner Mongolia, Henan, Hubei, Hunan and Jiangxi, even experienced a record 4 degrees Celsius above the historical average temperature.
