Environmental English Training (EET) class
Adjust font size:

Introduction

Environmental English Training (EET) aims to broaden the horizons of participants through English training. It aims to strengthening each participant's English abilities to increase their engagement with the international sector. It provides a platform to communicate more effectively and obtain more relevant resources for activists working in environmental and civil society development areas.

Background

The basic courses are in two parts: Basic English and English Related to Environmental Protection. The training time will be arranged outside of work hours (after work and weekends), with 120 hours in total.

EET has been held successfully three times by Green Earth Volunteers, Global Village of Beijing and Shining Stone Community Action. 2008 EET will be held by Friends of Nature.

Requirements and Qualifications

The participants must be active in the environmental, community development, public welfare media or legal areas, including NGOs, reporters, editors, and lawyers. The training is free for the participants, but they must cover their own travel costs.

The English level of all participants must be beyond Beginner; equivalent to the listening and reading of New Concept EnglishⅡ.

The participant must be committed to broadening their English language skills specifically in topics related to the environment and civil society. They must also be able to attend almost all classes.

Considering that the number of trainees is limited, each related organization can only recommend one participant.

The organizer will choose applicants according to each application and will inform them in a timely fashion.

The class times and course curriculum are flexible, and will be designed in response to requests from participants.
