180 million fry to replenish Yellow River fishery resources

Staff from the fishery regulatory department of Luoyang City, Henan Province, are releasing fish fry into Xiaolangdi water area of the Yellow River on September 23, 2007.

On Sept 23, the fishery regulatory department of Luoyang City, Henan Province, held a fish fry releasing activity on the Xiaolangdi Central Dock, in an aim to increase the fish population along the Yellow River.

The Xiaolangdi Reservoir is located at the junction of the upper and middle reaches of the Yellow River and plays a vital role balancing aquatic species.

This activity plans to release 180 million fry indigenous to the Yellow River three times. Species include silver carp, crucian carp, grass carp and others. Fishery resources along the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River need replenishment.
