The 2012 London Book Fair is coming to an end, and foreign-language books published by China International Publishing Group (CIPG) have proven to be publishing circle favorites.

CIPG did well during the three-day LBF, boasting 88 external copyright licensing deals and 50 internal copyright licensing agreements.

With its impressive display of multi-language books, Foreign Language Press won the appreciation of the American Copyright Clearance Center. It nailed down hundreds of deals with the company, covering nine languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Russian, Arab, Japanese, Korean and Indonesian. Foreign Language Press also signed a deal with the Confucius Institute at the University of Vienna, Austria, for publishing the German version of eight volumes of the "21st Century Contemporary Chinese Literature Series."

Dolphin Books also performed well at the book fair. It successfully exported the copyright of "China: Insight Traditions and Culture" (Revised Edition) to Romania URANUS Publishing Company. This book focuses on China's 5,000 years of civilization featuring engaging text and illustrations. URANUS believes it will help Romania's readers to gain a comprehensive understanding of China's overall development process. The launch of the Romanian version will further expand the book's influence. "China: Insight Traditions and Culture" has issued more than 10 million copies in 15 languages worldwide. It serves as a perfect example of how Chinese publications are "going out". Dolphin Books also signed a MOU with Singapore based Asia-Pacific Book Co., Ltd. on a poetry book about the classic English translation of a Su Dongpo poem.

New World Press Limited, Sinolingua and China Pictorial Publishing House also signed with publishers from Japan, Korea and America.

China played a central role at this year's London Book Fair. Huang Youyi, vice president of CIPG, said CIPG made careful preparation for the occasion.

"A good year is determined by its spring. The London Book Fair, which is held during spring, carries great significance in nailing down copyright transactions. As far as the copyright trade achievements are calculated, CIPG is enjoying a thriving market," Huang concluded.
