On stable development

The emphasis is on "steady" liberalization, we do not want to choke on it - you have to place one stone at a time to cross the river, step by step.

I look forward to President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao leading China through this period. There will be many who advocate haste, which will lead to "indigestion". The Chinese people have to be ready to understand and embrace liberalization, and respond with individual social responsibility.

On seeking balance

China's pragmatic handling of the forces between capitalism and socialism has brought increased prosperity, erected from the foundation of a dynamic but stable state.

Each time imported capitalism hurts people's sensitivities, the State has to step in to do what is necessary to lighten loads, open paths and balance progress with socialist attributes. At the end of the day, all responsible governments want to do no less for their people.

The record stands: China has not let political labels dissipate her focus and energy from the momentum of development for her people. In fact, by following pragmatism tempered by dogmas polished with Chinese characteristics, she is also planting a new hybrid of integration by peaceful growth, founded on the spreading of lasting prosperity.

On changes to State Council

It has been said that several departments and ministries will be merged, which will create a super ministry that will delete many overlapping jobs and upgrade the public service.

Personally, I think if it is done properly, it will save billions of dollars in efficiency.

Just look at Microsoft's plan to acquire Yahoo. Microsoft said the combination of the two companies would create efficiencies that would save approximately $1 billion annually.

If the two large companies' combination would save approximately $1 billion annually, imagine how much China could save.

It is another great idea from the government.
