Quake donation receipt available

People who have donated money to earthquake victims can provide their address in order to receive a receipt, the Ministry of Civil Affairs said.

According to a notice issued by the Department of Disaster Relief under the ministry on Wednesday, the information could not be recorded when people donated money via direct deposit due to weakness in banking software.

As of Tuesday, about 100,000 donations had been received by the ministry through its special bank account 11001007400058224610. Those donations totaled 2.937 billion yuan (US$419.6 million).

The ministry has listed several ways for donors to provide their address.

First, donors can dial 40081-12349 toll free and provide the information to hotline operators. Second, they can fill in an online form at either juankuan.cndr.gov.cn or www.juanzhu.gov.cn. Third, fax your address to 010-58123634、58123620、58123610. Finally, donors can send a letter to No. 147 Beiheyan Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing, Disaster Relief Department of Ministry of Civil Affairs. The postal code is 100721. Donors should attach the duplicate of the receipt provided by the bank or post office.

After the ministry confirms the information, donors will receive a registered letter with a receipt.
