據《廣州日報》消息，工業和信息化部周日晚間要求紛爭中的騰訊和奇虎兩家互聯網公司停止敵對競爭行為，并就此前的爭端向數以百萬計的用戶道歉。兩家公司均接受了裁決，并在各自的官網上發布了道歉信。

騰訊表示政府通過介入和調停，幫助避免了這場網絡安全事件繼續升級，并表示有必要修復公司形象所受的損害。中國政府這一舉動表明，這場高調的爭端已促使中國高層在這樣一個全球網民最多的互聯網市場更積極地執行公平競爭法規。在互聯網用戶提出批評、工業和信息化部發出警告后，兩家公司上周均已開始緩和公開指控的語調。

Tencent said government mediation had prevented the incident from escalating, adding that it recognized the need to repair its damaged corporate image. The high-profile dispute seems to have prompted the government to step in to enforce fairer competition for users in the world's largest Internet market. Both companies had already begun toning down their public recriminations last week following criticism from Internet users and a warning from the MIIT.
