第一段：隨著大學畢業生就業壓力的增加,有人認為大學應該以學生將來的工作為導向(career-oriented)，應根據就業教授學生實際知識和培養他們的實際技能(practical knowledge and skills)，而有些人不同意這種看法，他們認為大學教育還有其他職能。我認為大學教育除了要教學生知識和實際知識和技能之外，還有其他的職能和目的。大學教育應該培養學生的綜合能力(cultivating students' overall abilities)。
第二段：一方面大學教育應該教學生工作中需要實際知識和技能，這樣可以使學生在工作初期具備優勢，很快熟悉工作并進入工作狀態。
