Zhang Jiayi, director of Shanghai Water Authority, said that inland surface water, such as Shanghai's water resources, is easy to pollute and hard to control once polluted. Thus, the city plans to spend over 1.1 billion yuan in building larger water sources and purification plants and to switch to much safer water sources over next five years, Zhang said. |
