Spanish engineers have built a thermo solar power station that can shrug off cloudy days and generate electricity 24 hours a day, AFP reported.


The Gemasolar station, located in Andalusia, southern Spain, has a central tower surrounded by 2,600 solar mirrors, each measuring 120 square meters, in an immense 195-hectare circle.

The solar panels reflect sunrays on the tower and energy is stored in a vat filled with molten salts at a temperature of more than 500 degrees Celsius. Those salts are then used to produce steam to turn on the turbines and produce electricity.

It is the station's capacity to store energy that makes Gemasolar so different, because it allows the plant to transmit power during the night, relying on the energy it has accumulated during the day.

據法新社報道，西班牙工程師已經修建了一座熱能太陽能混合電站，這種電站不懼陰天，可24小時發電。

吉馬太陽能電站位于西班牙南部的安達盧西亞地區，有一個中央塔，塔周圍環繞著2600塊太陽反光鏡。反光鏡每塊面積為120平米，鋪成195公頃的大圈。

太陽能板將陽光反射到中央塔，然后能量儲藏在裝有溶鹽的大桶中，溶鹽溫度超過500攝氏度。這些鹽可用于制造蒸汽來帶動渦輪發電。

正是該電站儲存能量的功能使得其與眾不同，因為這使該電站在夜間依靠白天積攢的能量輸送電能。
