China Continues Strong Presentation at In'l Regatta

Ensuing a solid performance on Sunday, China continued its strong presentation at the Qingdao International Regatta on Tuesday.

Chinese sailors continued their solid performance in RS:X men's and women's events. Zhou Yuanguo came out third and first in Tuesday's two races, securing a top place in the men's RS:X race. Yin Jian sufferred an OCS (On the course side) in race 5, but she performed well in race 6 by finishing third. Yin kept ranking third overall.

Faustine Merret of France, who ranked 6th by International Sailing Federation (ISAF), held the first position in Women's RS:X. She finished 1st place in both of today's races.

"I took an early lead at the start of today's race. I do have a protest against me, however. So I am not sure how that will turn out." she said.

In Finn, Ben Ainslie of Britain, 1st at Athens and Sydney Olympics and 2nd at Atlanta Olympics, took the first place overall and exceeded the second 11 points.

In Yngling, Sarah Ayton, Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson kept their lead after seven races by finishing third and fifth in Tuesday's two races.

Roman Hagara and Hans Peter Steinacher of Austria came out first in Tornado. While in Star, French sailors Xavier Rohart and Pascal Rambeau took the first place after six races.

Ruslana Taran and Olena Pakholchyk of Ukraine finished seventh in both today's two races and ranked the first overall in women's 470 class.

"We performed fairly well today", said Taran, "The conditions were very difficult. Our start in the first race was OK, but we had trouble at the start of the second race due to the strong current."

"Today wasn't a great day. We hope there will be more wind tomorrow", she added.

In men's 470 class, Nathan Wilmot and Malcolm Page of Australia finished second in both today's two races.

In Laser, Paul Goodison of Britain kept his lead after eight races. While in Laser Radial, Anna Tunnicliffe of United States beat Jo Aleh of New Zealand to top the ranking overall.
