Table Tennis Day 9 Preview: China prospecting for gold on final day

Tuesday, September 16, is the final day of competition in the Table Tennis events at the Peking University Gymnasium, with China being hot favorites to add to their already impressive medal haul.

Women's Team - Classes 4/5

Gold/Silver: China versus Germany

Team China includes Ren Guixiang and Gu Gai, the respective gold and silver medalists in the Class 5 Women's Individual event.

Germany will be led by Andrea Zimmerer, the bronze medalist in the Women's Individual Class 5 event.

Bronze: Jordan versus Serbia

Khetam Abuawad has been the player in form for Jordan; at the semifinal stage she was Jordan's one winner against China beating Gu Gai.

Borislava Peric of Serbia, ranked No.1 in the world in the Women's Class 5 category, leads Serbia.

Men's Team - Classes 6/8

Gold/Silver: China versus Slovakia

China includes Chen Gang, gold medalist in Men's Individual Class 8, and Ye Chaoqun, silver medalist in Men's Individual Class 7, in their squad of players.

Richard Csejtey and Miroslav Jambor of Slovakia are both players who did not enjoy the best of fortunes in the Individual events but have found their form in the Team events.

Bronze: Israel versus France

Neither Zeev Glikman nor Shmuel Shur of Israel excelled in the Individual events but both have picked it up in the Team competition.

Stephane Messi of France, Men's Individual Class 7 gold medalist in Athens 2004, leads the French team.

Men's Team - Classes 4/5

Gold/Silver: China versus the Republic of Korea

Zhang Yan, the gold medalist in Men's Individual Class 4 at the Athens 2004 Paralympics, leads China.

Jung Eun-chang, the silver medalist in the Men's Individual Classes 4/5 is on the Republic of Korea team

Bronze: Norway versus France

Tommy Urhaug of Norway, the bronze medalist in Men's Individual Class 4/5, leads Norway with Rolf Erik Paulsen in support.

Christophe Durand, the Men's Individual Classes 4/5 gold medalist, is the top player on the French team and Norway will be seeking revenge. In the Men's Individual Classes 4/5 event, Durand beat Urhaug in the semifinals.

Men's Team - Classes 9/10

Gold/Silver: China versus Spain

Ge Yang and Ma Lin, the respective gold and silver medalists in Men's Individual Classes 9/10, are in the Chinese outfit.

Jose Manuel Ruiz, seeded No.1 in the Men's Class 9 Individual event, leads Spain and he has a point to prove - he did not win a medal in the Individual events.

Bronze: France versus Czech Republic

France will be led by Gilles de la Bourdonnaye, the fourth seed in Men's Individual Classes 9/10, who failed to win a medal in that event and is seeking his and France' first Table Tennis medal in Beijing.

Ivan Karabec of Czech Republic appears in the nation's line-up. Karabec was seeded No.2 in the Men's Individual Classes 9/10 event without winning. He has saved his best form for the Team event. He was unbeaten in the semifinal defeat against Spain.
