The Guangzhou Asian Para Games Organizing Committee (GAPGOC) is pleased to announce that the Chefs de Mission Seminar of the 2010 Asian Para Games will be held in Guangzhou from May 28 to 29.

The Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games are scheduled for December 12-19.

The third and concluding meeting of the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) Coordination Commission for the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games recently concluded in Guangzhou. Senior officials and experts of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), APC and National Paralympic Committee of China attended the meeting and expressed their satisfaction with GAPGOC’s preparations for the Games.

During the meeting a number of topics were discussed, including barrier-free facilities in Games venues, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Torch Relay, the Chefs de Mission Seminar and related dossiers as well as the welfare of disabled people in Guangzhou; main policies and procedures of the Games were specified.

It was confirmed at the meeting that the Chefs de Mission Seminar will take place on May 28 and 29. During the seminar, GAPGOC will announce to the National Paralympic Committees (NPCs) policies and procedures for participating in the Games. As a major milestone in the lead-up to the Games, the seminar will mark the transition of Games preparations from policy making to task force and venuisation operations.

The Official Magazine of Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games will be released on the sidelines of the Chefs de Mission Seminar on May 28.

Preparations for the Asian Para Games are well on track thanks to the organisers’ commitment to staging an Asian Para Games as impressive as The 16th Asian Games.

The venuisation operation of the 2010 Asian Para Games has started after the completion of some important documents such as General Policies and Regulations for Venues of Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games and Plan on Structure and Responsibilities of Venue-Based Teams of Guangzhou 2010 Asian Para Games. Details concerning the competition organisation and medical classification have been generally finalized. Twenty competition venues and seven training venues have been chosen for the Asian Para Games while decisions have been made on the sports events programme and competition schedules.

Starting this July, test events will be held for five sports of the Guangzhou Asian Para Games, including Goalball, Wheelchair Tennis, Boccia, Wheelchair Basketball and Para Table Tennis.
