The 16th Asian Games, part of the worldwide Olympic movement and governed by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is having its final review of its venues and Asian Games Town complex before the Main Media Centre (MMC) has its world opening this coming Monday morning.

The 16th Asian Games are the second largest sports event in the world after the Summer Olympic Games.

The final sweep of the entire complex gives one final day of rest for all staff and management before returning Friday to make the final preparations for the world media when the MMC complex opens for 24 hour business this coming Monday. This "cleaning" of facilities by formal authorities is standard operating procedure at all Olympic Games, Winter Games, as well as Pan-American and Asian Games prior to opening to accredited media, athletes and trainers.

More than 9,000 accredited journalists are expected to use the MMC and adjacent facilities during the days leading up to and two weeks of the Guangzhou Asian Games.

In addition, the remaining one million tickets for The 16th Asian Games are available to the public for more than 600 competitions in 42 disciplines. China Mobile users can also purchase tickets via their mobile phone.

All tickets for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of Guangzhou Asian Games and Asian Para Games have been sold out. Games organisers remind spectators to bring their ID cards or passports with them to all events as their legal identification must match the name on the ticket.
