The 2025 CBA All-Star Rookie Challenge delivered dual storylines here on Saturday, as the CBA Freshmen Team edged Tsinghua University 83-74, while Team CUBAL staged an upset over the CBA Sophomore Team 88-78.

To showcase more talented young stars, CBA scheduled two games in the Rookie Challenge day for the All-Star Weekend.

20-year-old guard Yu Miti Saidake of the Guangzhou Loong Lions spearheaded the Freshmen's victory with 20 points, earning him the MVP honor. "This victory means redemption -- we suffered a heavy loss against Tsinghua in our youth team days," said Yu Miti, "The MVP trophy fuels my drive to keep evolving."

In the second game, Guan Ziyu from Peking University led the collegiate squad with 19 points.

"Since childhood, my goal has been to reach a higher stage of basketball, and I've been working step by step towards it," Guan said, clutching his MVP trophy. "Today's victory came because we were all driven by a strong determination."
