Licques Town (25kms south of Calais) is renowned for its traditional turkey parade and market filled with various regional produce. Usually the weekend before Christmas, the Turkey Festival, or Fête de la Dinde, is held in the town. Hundreds of turkeys roam through the streets, while locals and visitors stand around the roads cheering on the fowl and drinking the local spirit Licquoise. In the nearby market, shoppers also have the opportunity to buy numerous delicious foods, beautifully packaged sweets and chocolates, traditional decorations and local crafts.
