The Walton family

The Walton family is undoubtedly one of the richest families in the world, owning more than half of the world's largest retailer, Walmart, which was worth $150 billion as of August 2013. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. was founded by Sam and Bud Walton in 1962, incorporated in October 1969 and publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange in 1972. Walmart has over 11,000 stores in 27 countries under 55 different names, and it is considered one of the most valuable companies in the world.
