Expo Entertainment Hall

Jiaofang Ji, an original show featuring imperial Chinese dancing, tells the story of Lei Haiqing, the heroic leader of a dance school, while showcasing the rise and fall of the Tang Dynasty (618-907).

Taiwan's Chen Mei'e, the show's creator, is determined to resurrect this ancient form of dancing. Costume design is by Oscar award-winning visual artist Tim Yip.

Shanghai Hongqiao Contemporary Art Museum

An exhibition of print art entitled Viewing City showcases the work of 33 artists from 11 countries and regions. Their 104 prints reflect their respective understanding of urban culture. The curators, led by Lu Zhiping, chairman of the print art division of the Shanghai Artists Association, recall the 1930s, when print art played an important role in social and ideological changes in China. This exhibition continues that tradition and presents a Chinese point of view with a unique international perspective. The exhibition runs until Oct 5.

Shanghai Urban Sculpture Art Center

Wang Xiaohui began collecting drawings and designs for the popular Mini Cooper from aspiring young artists months ago. She now brings the fruits of these efforts together in Wang Xiaohui's Dream Project, inside a 2,000-square-meter exhibition hall. The photographer and architect has integrated the students' work and ideas into her latest multi-media installations. A real Mini Cooper, together with a drawing by Wang, will be on display.

Asia Square, Expo Garden

Following the success of their Expo debut, Israeli dance group Sheketak will hit the Expo stage again with its hour-long dance show, Rhythm in Motion, which is likely to keep audiences riveted from Sept 26 to 30. The full version of the show will be an eye-opening performance replete with energetic body movements, humorous plots, rhythmic live music and lighting effects. The audience will be exposed to a breathtaking atmosphere that abounds with the dance group's creative passion, and each dancer's unique talent and skills.

18 Gallery at the Bund 18

The annual World Photography Festival & Exhibition is open at 18 Gallery, showcasing winning images from the 2010 Sony World Photography Awards, the Student Focus program, UNICEF, A Photo Pledge for Children's Rights Award and a special selection of past Chinese winning and commended Sony World Photography Awards images. The World Photography Festival in Shanghai will run from the Oct 14 to 16. It will feature talks and presentations for emerging and advanced photographers.

Minsheng Art Museum

Brussels Body Speech brings together two seemingly unrelated elements: modern dance, which is a celebration of the human body, and modern science, which challenges the limits of the human body. The tension created from this meeting of dance and science marks the whole exhibition, which runs until Oct 7.

Historical Prints

This exhibition features five cold-chisel engravings of the Suite des Seize Estampes (Suite of the Sixteen Copper Engravings), which represent the victorious military campaign of Emperor Qian Long between 1755 and 1759 in Upper East Asia. Isidore-Stanislas Helman produced the reductions between 1783 and 1785, after a set commissioned by the emperor on July 13, 1765, for the Imperial Palace in Beijing. They were produced under the direction of Charles-Nicolas Cochin in Paris. The prints will be on show until the middle of November.
