The death toll in the flooded Wangjialing Coal Mine in north China's Shanxi Province has risen to 9. The remaining 29 trapped miners have finally been located, and rescue efforts are underway.

Working around the clock. Rescuers have pulled out 115 miners alive, and they are inching their way towards the last two work platforms underground for the remaining people.

One of the submerged stretches leading to the two platforms was estimated at 700 meters long and the other at 350 meters. It is believed the 14 miners trapped in the lower platform are in very dangerous conditions, while the others have a better chance of survival.

Pumps are slowly lowering the water level in the shafts. Rescuers underground have brought with them liquid food, respirators, eye protection and other emergency tools. Rubber boats and rubber pants are also ready underground.

Once the trapped miners are pulled out, they will be rushed to ambulance within 20 seconds.

Meanwhile, doctors say none of the 115 survivors in hospital are in critical condition.

"Welcome home, folks, and we are standing by you" , reads this poster in the wards of the No. 1 Hospital affiliated to the Shanxi Medical University.

The hospital took the 20 worst suffering survivors. They are suffering from organ function damage, gastritis, lung and heart problems, and skin diseases.

However, none are in intensive care, and seven of them are able to get out of bed.

Doctors are also offering the patients mental health care, trying to soothe their psychological trauma.

The flooding took place last Sunday afternoon, when underground water gushed into the Wangjialing Mine's pit, which was in the midst of construction.
