Bill and Bill, the two are quite influencial on the world health stage Clinton and Gates, have called for more action in the fight against HIV and AIDS.

At the international AIDS conference in Vienna, Austria on Monday, former US President Bill Clinton urged for funds to go directly to AIDS sufferers, rather than expensive administrations.

Former US president Bill Clinton said, "In too many countries, too much money goes to pay for too many people to go to too many meetings and get on too many aeroplanes to provide too much technical assistance. Too much is spent on studies and reports that sit on shelves. And maybe when we've got all the money in the world this is regrettable but not tragic, but keep in mind: every dollar we waste today puts a life at risk. "

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates also spoke at the conference.

His charity foundation spends a large portion of its 34 billion U.S. dollar fund on fighting AIDS and says efficiency is vital to increase access to AIDS drugs for the 15 million people who need them.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said, "Even as we advocate for more funding, we can do more to get the most benefit from each dollar of funding and every ounce of effort. If we push for a new focus on efficiency, in both treatment and prevention, and we continue to innovate to create new tools, we can drive down the number of infections dramatically, and start writing the story of the end of AIDS."

Gates also called for a rapid increase of "cheap, effective, and easy to apply" HIV/AIDS prevention measures.

Out of the 33.4 million people who are infected with the human immunization deficiency virus that causes AIDS, only 5.2 million now get the drugs they need.
