As the name suggests, the British Lawnmower Museum is one of the world's leading authorities on lawnmowers, and specialists in antique garden machinery.

His interest in this type of equipment stems from early involvement in the family business started in 1945, which catered for all aspects of sales, spares and service for local people.

And a museum wouldn't be complete without some historical fun facts. The curator said the inventor's initial idea wasn't about cutting grass, but to trim the knap off the guardsmen's uniforms.

Brian Radam, curator of British Lawnmower Museum, said, "He wanted the cloth to be perfect, and he asked Edwin Beard Budding to invent a machine to cut off the bits of the guardsmen's clothes. And what he invented."

To date, the British Lawnmower Museum has over 300 restored exhibits of garden machinery over the last 200 years, including some precious ones, such as the wedding gift of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, and one vintage machine that costs as much as a Rolls Royce.

Meanwhile, the museum has an archive conservation of manuscript materials dating from 1799, as well as workshops that restore lawnmowers for the collection and others around the world.

Many of the exhibit's technical and industrial artifacts are from the Victorian and Edwardian era, and the restored exhibits are devoted to keeping a small part of British engineering heritage alive.
