That shouldn't be too huge of a shock though. For sale was a nearly 2,000 year-old jade dresser and seat, together weighing 166 kilograms. The auction opened with a 180 million yuan bid in Beijing before closing at the record level. The price paid is the highest ever recorded for jade works.
