Li calls for more China-EU cooperation

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang continues his visit to Europe. Li said that China is considering investing in a China-EU investment platform to shore up Europe's economic revival. The premier also called for more cooperation in infrastructure construction, technology and market access.

Premier Li Keqiang attended the Plenary Session of the China-EU Summit, and also addressed in the opening ceremony of the China-EU business summit in Brussels.

The premier said that China is willing to work with the European Fund for Strategic Investment. The EFSI is a 315 billion-euro investment plan introduced by European Commission President Jean-Claude Junker. The infrastructure fund aims at realizing a renaissance of its economy.

Li also suggested that China and the European Union combine China's comparative advantage in production capacity and equipment manufacturing with Europe's advantage in technology.

"The Chinese side is of the view that China-EU relations, particularly economic relations and trade, is not only about buying and selling. We should expand mutual investment and even make joint investment. The Chinese side is willing to positively participate in the EU side's investment plan," Li said.

When it comes to the Greek crisis, Premier Li said a united Europe would benefit China and the world.

"Let me reiterate here that for many years China has been supporting European integration. What China would like to see is a united Europe, a prosperous European Union as well as a strong euro. This not only serves the interests of Europe, but also that of both China and the rest of the world," Li said.

Li also said that China will expand its purchase of bonds issued by the European Investment Bank, and will its improve RMB Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor system. The premier also called for more cooperation with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

Li travelled to Paris later Monday for an official visit to France.
