A two-episode documentary entitled "China From Above" will premiere on the National Geographic Channel on the evening of Sep. 24.

'China From Above' gets off to a flying start in US?

The documentary produced by the National Geographic Channel and the China Intercontinental Communication Center (CICC) discovers how China has transformed its cities and infrastructure in the past three decades while still retaining its strong traditions through advanced aerial filming technology.

Simeon Dawes, executive vice president of National Geographic Channel (Asia), announced the above broadcast time when attending a signing ceremony for the "China Revealed" program organized by the National Geographic Channel and the CICC.

Cui Yuying, deputy director of the SCIO, addressed the ceremony, saying that the "China Revealed" program and the documentary "China From Above" will provide a better understanding of China for foreign audiences.

"We hope both sides could deepen their cooperation in future to produce more wonderful works, so as to promote communication and interaction between China and the world, and strengthen friendship between Chinese people and the people all over the world," said Cui.

Dawes said that during recent years, the National Geographic Channel and the CICC have already produced over 30 hours' worth of documentaries about China, which have presented China to the world. Today, "China From Above" and the "China Revealed" program open a new chapter of cooperation between the two sides.

"We believe our deepened understanding and thorough cooperation will create richer documentaries and programs which will bring more Chinese stories to the world, and help the world see a more colorful China," he said.

The "China From Above" documentary consists of two episodes. Episode one features China's ancient civilization with a fascinating history dating back thousands of years. Episode two takes to the air to reveal how modern China lives, eats, works, travels, and plays on a mega scale.
