NEW YORK, April 2 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar softened in late trading on Wednesday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.33 percent to 103.805 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro climbed to 1.0854 U.S. dollars from 1.0800 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound added to 1.2979 U.S. dollars from 1.2920 U.S. dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 149.93 Japanese yen, higher than 149.40 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar fell to 0.8824 Swiss francs from 0.8827 Swiss francs, and it was up to 1.4325 Canadian dollars from 1.4318 Canadian dollars.
