The fourth Group of 20 (G20) summit is scheduled to be held Toronto, Canada on June 26-27. The following are some basic facts about Toronto, Canada's economic hub and one of the world's most important financial centers:

Located in Canada's most densely populated region of southern Ontario on the shore of Lake Ontario, Toronto is the largest city in Canada and the fifth most populous municipality in North America with a population of over 2.5 million.

As Canada's economic capital, Toronto is one of the top financial centers in the world, and is considered an alpha world city by the Globalization and World Cities, a leading research network on world cities centered in Loughborough University, Canada.

Toronto's leading economic sectors include finance, business services, telecommunications, aerospace, transportation, media, arts, film, television production, publishing, software production, medical research, education, tourism and sports industries.

The Toronto Stock Exchange, the world's eighth largest in terms of market value, is headquartered in the city.

Because of its low crime rates, clean environment, high standard of living and friendly attitude to diversity, Toronto is also consistently listed as one of the world's most livable cities by famous survey agencies.

Demographically, the city is one of the most cosmopolitan and international cities in Canada and even in the world. With new immigrants constantly coming in recent years, the city now has 46.9 percent of its residents from a visible minority group, a term referring to non-Caucasian immigrants.

South Asians and Chinese are the two largest visible minority groups in the city, making up 12 percent and 11.4 percent of the total population respectively.

Toronto is the provincial capital of Ontario and also home to a number of famous universities and colleges and research institutions. It is a worldwide leader in several fields including biomedical research. It houses North America's fourth-largest university library system, after those of Harvard, Yale and Berkeley in the United States.
