Chinese President Xi Jinping's first appearance at the UN headquarters breathed new life into the development of international relations, leaving a deep imprint in the history of China's diplomacy, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Monday.

Concluding his state visit to the United States, Xi arrived in New York in the early morning of Saturday for a series of UN summits and conferences upon the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the world body.

The Chinese president called for a new type of international relations featuring win-win cooperation when speaking for the first time at the annual UN General Assembly high-level debate.

China is the first among world's major countries to set win-win cooperation as its main objective in dealing with ties with other nations, Wang said.

The vision of a new type of international relations with win-win cooperation at the core, put forward by Xi in late 2014, offered important inspirations and played a guiding role in the evolution of international relations, Wang added.

While expounding the vision of a new type of international relations, Xi suggested that the international community build partnership in which countries treat each other as equals, engage in mutual consultations and show mutual understanding.

The Chinese president called for building a security architecture contributed and shared jointly by nations and featuring fairness and justice, and also called for an open, innovative and inclusive outlook of development that benefits all, as well as increasing inter-civilization exchanges to promote harmony, inclusiveness and respect for differences, Wang said.

Meanwhile, the foreign minister added that, Xi also pledged to establish a 1-billion-U.S.-dollar China-UN peace and development fund to support the UN's work, and advance multilateral cooperation.

The Chinese president also made new contribution to safeguarding world peace, Wang stressed.

While addressing a peacekeeping summit, Xi expounded China's stance and principles on issues relating to world peace, put forward important proposals on promoting UN peacekeeping missions, and announced a string of practical initiatives to build peacekeeping capability readiness system and promote peacekeeping capability building of countries worldwide, especially those from Africa, Wang said.

Furthermore, President Xi also offered new insights into the ways to promote global growth and development, Wang said, adding that China's visions, opinions and initiatives have greatly enriched the post-2015 development agenda adopted at the UN summit.

To well implement the post-2015 development agenda, Wang noted that, the Chinese president put forward a four-point proposal for the international community: building up the development capacities; improving the international environment for development; updating the partnership for development; and strengthening the coordination mechanisms for development.

Xi announced that China will set up a fund, with initial contribution of 2 billion dollars, to support South-South cooperation and assist developing countries in implementing their post-2015 development agenda, Wang noted.

In addition, China will exempt the debt of the outstanding intergovernmental interest-free loans due by the end of 2015 owed by the least developed countries (LDCs), landlocked developing countries and small island developing countries, the president said.

The Chinese president also put forth China's "Six 100s" initiative, in which China will make available to other developing countries in the next five years 100 poverty reduction programs, 100 agricultural cooperation projects, 100 trade promotion and aid programs, 100 environmental protection and climate change programs, 100 hospitals and clinics, and 100 schools and vocational training centers.

At the UN headquarters, Xi also made detailed proposals on promoting women's rights worldwide, and reaffirmed China's utmost efforts to fight climate change.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said China has played a positive role and made remarkable contributions to promoting world peace and development as well as proper solutions to regional and international issues.

The UN chief also described China as "an indispensable partner for UN agenda."
