Constructors receive moon cakes from governmental staff members at a building site in Jiyuan, central China's Henan Province, Oct. 5, 2006. Governmental staff members delivered moon cakes to constructors at many building sites in Jiyuan and brought them greetings for the forthcoming Mid-autumn Festival which falls on Oct. 6.
Henan is expecting a grain harvest of 50.15 billion kilograms this year, an annual rise of 9.5 percent year on year, according to a forecast from the provincial agriculture department.
Nineteen candidates were nominated on September 24, 2006 in Beijing for the 2nd China Poverty Eradication Awards. The 10 winners in separate categories will be announced on October 17, the Int'l Day for Eradication of Poverty.
