The storm landed in the Aotou township of the Dayawan development zone at 1 a.m., according to the Guangdong provincial meteorological administration.

It then weakened to tropical depression at 2 a.m., and was located at 22.8 degrees north and 114.5 degrees east. It packed winds of 58 kilometers per hour.

The administration forecasted that Nangka will continue weakening while moving to the north at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour.

Nangka will lash Guangdong with gale and torrential rains on Saturday.

The tropical storm had churned ashore at 10:30 p.m. Friday in Huizhou City.

It brought rains at the eye, but Xinhua reporter didn't see big influence of local people's life, as the roadside restaurants were still open and taxis continued services.

Previously, the third tropical storm Linfa roared in south and east China, triggering torrential rain, strong winds and landslides. At least one was dead and another six missing in Guangdong, Zhejiang and Fujian provinces.
